V\u00e9ritable r\u00e9volution technologique, ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 offre de nombreux avantages, notamment dans l&#8217;industrie microtechnique. \u00c0 condition toutefois qu&#8217;il soit correctement utilis\u00e9. Et que les constructeurs am\u00e9liorent la fiabilit\u00e9 et la productivit\u00e9 de leurs \u00e9quipements, tout en d\u00e9veloppant les outils de contr\u00f4le n\u00e9cessaires pour en faire une v\u00e9ritable solution de production.<\/p>\n<p>Bien s\u00fbr, certaines entreprises pionni\u00e8res comme GE Additive, tirent d\u00e9j\u00e0 leur \u00e9pingle du jeu et profitent des opportunit\u00e9s qu&#8217;offre la fabrication additive m\u00e9tallique. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans la construction d&#8217;un moteur destin\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;aviation civile, le constructeur am\u00e9ricain a r\u00e9ussi gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la fabrication additive la combinaison de 855 composants individuels en seulement 12 assemblages complexes pour son Turboprop Advanced (ATP).\u00a0<i>&#8220;La fabrication additive est utilis\u00e9e pour la production de plus d&#8217;un tiers des composants de ce nouveau moteur&#8221;<\/i>, annonce Paul Corkery, responsable du programme ATP.\u00a0<i>&#8220;Ce qui nous a permis d&#8217;all\u00e9ger son poids de 5 %, d&#8217;am\u00e9liorer la puissance de 10 % tout en r\u00e9duisant la consommation de carburant de 20 %. Sa maintenance est plus simple et son d\u00e9veloppement a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duit de 12 mois.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0Pour le sp\u00e9cialiste am\u00e9ricain,\u00a0<i>&#8220;aucune technologie ne peut assurer toutes ces performances en m\u00eame temps.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0Peut-on pour autant crier victoire ?<\/p>\n<p>Plusieurs sp\u00e9cialistes &#8211; et pas des moindres car ils repr\u00e9sentent des poids lourds de l&#8217;industrie comme Trumpf ou Siemens &#8211; r\u00e9unis r\u00e9cemment lors d&#8217;une table ronde sur ce sujet au salon am\u00e9ricain Photonics West, sont plus r\u00e9serv\u00e9s en ce qui concerne les possibilit\u00e9s de la fabrication additive m\u00e9tallique.\u00a0<i>&#8220;Je pense que cette technologie est une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et qu&#8217;elle changera la fabrication industrielle, mais pas aussi vite que soutiennent certains&#8221;<\/i>, avertit Peter Leibinger, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) et vice-pr\u00e9sident du comit\u00e9 de direction du groupe Trumpf.\u00a0<i>&#8220;Nous avons eu besoin d&#8217;une trentaine d&#8217;ann\u00e9es pour d\u00e9velopper une technologie comme la d\u00e9coupe laser &#8211; un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 relatif simple par rapport \u00e0 la fabrication additive &#8211; et elle peut \u00eatre toujours perfectionn\u00e9e. Alors, les attentes doivent \u00eatre corr\u00e9l\u00e9es avec le temps qui sera n\u00e9cessaire pour d\u00e9velopper des machines de fabrication additive fiables et productives. Sinon, les d\u00e9sillusions seront nombreuses, ce qui sera tr\u00e8s dommageable.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0Pour le sp\u00e9cialiste allemand,\u00a0<i>&#8220;les acteurs de cette nouvelle industrie doivent mieux \u00e9duquer les utilisateurs pour qu&#8217;ils puissent tirer pleinement profit de cette technologie.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tous les sp\u00e9cialistes s&#8217;accordent \u00e0 dire qu&#8217;il faut mettre au point les outils capables d&#8217;indiquer ce qui se passe dans le bain de fusion m\u00e9tallique et ils insistent sur l&#8217;importance du contr\u00f4le m\u00e9trologique. Plusieurs fournisseurs de solutions de contr\u00f4le tomographique, comme Nikon par exemple, montraient ainsi au salon Control 2018 \u00e0 Stuttgart (Allemagne) la capacit\u00e9 de ces moyens \u00e0 d\u00e9tecter les causes de d\u00e9fauts en p\u00e9n\u00e9trant \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur des pi\u00e8ces.\u00a0<i>&#8220;Les ing\u00e9nieurs doivent accorder une importance accrue aux op\u00e9rations de post-traitement des pi\u00e8ces r\u00e9alis\u00e9es par fabrication additive&#8221;<\/i>, consid\u00e8re \u00e9galement Karsten Heuser, sp\u00e9cialiste de cette technologie \u00e0 la division Usine Num\u00e9rique de Siemens. Son conseil :\u00a0<i>&#8220;il vaut mieux choisir une machine de fabrication additive moins pr\u00e9cise car les pi\u00e8ces devront de toute mani\u00e8re subir un processus de post-traitement.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0La grande majorit\u00e9 de sp\u00e9cialistes de la fabrication additive soulignent que cette technologie est trop jeune pour pouvoir s&#8217;imposer comme un standard dans les processus industriels de fabrication.\u00a0<i>&#8220;Il faut absolument mettre en place des formations d\u00e9di\u00e9es pour expliquer le potentiel de cette technologie et surtout, changer la mani\u00e8re de penser des concepteurs&#8221;<\/i>, affirme le sp\u00e9cialiste de Siemens.\u00a0<i>&#8220;L&#8217;apport de nouveaux logiciels de simulation est essentiel pour savoir, avant la fabrication, ce qui se passe quand le laser agit sur la poudre m\u00e9tallique.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0Une d\u00e9marche qui impose l&#8217;acquisition de donn\u00e9es fiables (profondeur du bain de fusion ou sa forme, la distribution de la temp\u00e9rature, etc.) pour pouvoir valider les simulations.<\/p>\n<p>Alors, quel avenir pour la fabrication additive m\u00e9tallique ?\u00a0<i>&#8220;Je suis \u00e0 la fois pessimiste et optimiste&#8221;<\/i>, r\u00e9pond Peter Leibinger de Trumpf.\u00a0<i>&#8220;Les formations dispens\u00e9es par les universit\u00e9s allemandes restent ainsi tr\u00e8s classiques. N\u00e9anmoins, les jeunes qui poss\u00e8dent des imprimantes 3D pour tester et fabriquer diff\u00e9rentes pi\u00e8ces plastiques sont de plus en plus nombreux.
