Mais pour v\u00e9rifier la qualit\u00e9 de la production (contr\u00f4les dimensionnels et d\u00e9tection de d\u00e9fauts internes), la seule solution \u00e9tait jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent de pr\u00e9lever un \u00e9chantillon, pour r\u00e9aliser une analyse de l\u2019int\u00e9rieur, souvent en laboratoire, soit par un contr\u00f4le destructif, soit \u00e0 l&#8217;aide d&#8217;une technique comme la tomographie ou l\u2019ultrason.<br \/>\nLa start-up Teratonics, cr\u00e9\u00e9e par deux chercheurs du Laboratoire de chimie physique (CNRS\/Universit\u00e9 Paris-Sud), propose une solution originale fond\u00e9e sur l&#8217;utilisation des ondes t\u00e9rahertz (THz) et sur l\u2019imagerie par balayage. Les ondes t\u00e9rahertz sont situ\u00e9es entre les micro-ondes et l\u2019infrarouge dans le spectre \u00e9lectromagn\u00e9tique. Selon une d\u00e9finition courante, elles couvrent la gamme de 0,1 \u00e0 10 THz correspondant aux longueurs d\u2019ondes de 30 \u03bcm \u00e0 3 mm. Le syst\u00e8me con\u00e7u par Teratonics d\u00e9tecte et visualise en quelques secondes la pr\u00e9sence de d\u00e9fauts \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur d&#8217;une pi\u00e8ce en plastique ou composite (bulles, inclusions, mauvaise orientation des fibres, d\u00e9laminage&#8230;) sur la ligne de fabrication et sur 100 % de la production. Le m\u00eame instrument effectue des mesures d\u2019\u00e9paisseurs avec une pr\u00e9cision de quelques microm\u00e8tres. L&#8217;innovation comporte un d\u00e9tecteur monocoup d&#8217;impulsions ultracourtes t\u00e9rahertz (d&#8217;une dur\u00e9e d&#8217;environ 1 picoseconde), qui acquiert les ondes r\u00e9fl\u00e9chies par le mat\u00e9riau.<br \/>\nEn effet, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une technologie brevet\u00e9e de spectroscopie r\u00e9solue dans le temps, cet instrument n&#8217;a besoin que d&#8217;une seule impulsion pour obtenir les informations permettant d\u2019analyser un point. Jusqu&#8217;ici les syst\u00e8mes de contr\u00f4le \u00e0 impulsions t\u00e9rahertz n\u00e9cessitaient plusieurs centaines d\u2019impulsions, avec l&#8217;inconv\u00e9nient d&#8217;allonger la dur\u00e9e de la mesure.
