En g\u00e9n\u00e9rant un profil optimal, la mise en forme du faisceau permet par exemple, d\u2019optimiser les processus d\u2019usinage de surface. Ce qui autorise des processus nettement plus rapides et offre des r\u00e9sultats de bonne qualit\u00e9. La technologie de division du faisceau permet \u00e9galement d\u2019augmenter le rendement du processus. La combinaison d\u2019une mise en forme optimale associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la division du faisceau augmente le rendement du processus (jusqu\u2019\u00e0 200 fois). Avec la division en plusieurs sous-faisceaux, il est possible d\u2019effectuer un micro-usinage en parall\u00e8le, permettant des processus plus rapides\u202f: on atteint des taux d\u2019ablation neuf fois plus vite avec neuf sous-faisceaux. Cette technologie exploite pleinement la puissance du laser en pr\u00e9servant la forme dans tout le champ de la F-theta. La mise en forme de faisceau multiplie plus de trois fois la vitesse d\u2019impression 3D des machines de fusion laser sur lit de poudre (Laser Powder Bed Fusion), en ouvrant la voie \u00e0 la production de masse. Par ailleurs, la possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019imprimer avec de nouvelles poudres en supprimant la fissuration \u00e0 chaud et en augmentant la densit\u00e9 des pi\u00e8ces imprim\u00e9es am\u00e9liore la flexibilit\u00e9 de la machine. Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 am\u00e9liore \u00e9galement le fonctionnement des machines de fabrication additive par placement automatis\u00e9 des fibres et par d\u00e9p\u00f4t d\u2019\u00e9nergie direct par laser. La technique de d\u00e9p\u00f4t sous \u00e9nergie concentr\u00e9e (Laser Directed Energy Deposition, L-DED) permet de fabriquer des pi\u00e8ces en fusionnant directement des mat\u00e9riaux \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un laser \u00e0 haute puissance et en les d\u00e9posant couche par couche sur la pi\u00e8ce. Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de fabrication additive s\u2019utilise principalement avec des poudres m\u00e9talliques ou des filaments.
